Life is too short to live worrying about bills getting paid!<\/em><\/p>\n Diagnosis: <\/strong>Stage IIB breast cancer (diagnosed 05\/14)<\/p>\n Treatment: <\/strong>Chemotherapy, radiation, mastectomy, reconstruction<\/p>\n Grant used for: <\/strong>Rent payments<\/p>\n Anna\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s story: <\/strong>Before her cancer diagnosis, Anna worked as a part time health clerk at a local San Diego school district. Together, she and her husband were able to make ends meet each month. In May of 2014, Anna was diagnosed with Stage IIB invasive ductal breast cancer. As a result, she underwent a mastectomy and reconstruction a month later followed by chemotherapy that was anticipated to last through November of 2014. At the beginning of 2015, Anna was scheduled for a second surgery followed by six weeks of radiation treatment at the Sharp Memorial Outpatient Pavilion in San Diego.<\/p>\n According to her RN patient navigator, Anna will be unable to go back to work until her treatment is complete in the spring of 2015.<\/p>\n The loss of Anna\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s income along with the additional stress of high medical copays has put a big strain on her household. Even with her husband\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s income, they are falling behind on their bills. Anna tells us that they are scarping by to pay rent and don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have a lot left over to tackle her growing medical bills.<\/p>\n Thanks to our generous donors, SOPFC was able to provide a grant to Anna to assist with her rent payment.
