Facing Metastatic Cancer with Strength and Resourcefulness<\/strong><\/p>\n

Roberta, 69, is navigating Stage IV breast cancer with remarkable resilience. Divorced and living on SSDI income, she had to stop working earlier than expected due to the physical and financial toll of treatment. Her current regimen includes hormone therapy along with Verzenio<\/strong>, a targeted oral medication designed specifically for advanced breast cancer.<\/p>\n

Targeted Treatment Comes at a Cost<\/strong><\/p>\n

Verzenio is part of a class of drugs called CDK4\/6 inhibitors<\/strong>, which work by blocking proteins in cancer cells that cause them to grow and divide. When combined with hormone therapy, Verzenio can help slow the progression of certain hormone receptor\u2013positive breast cancers. While it offers hope and more time, the medication is expensive \u2014 and its side effects can be draining, requiring frequent appointments and close monitoring.<\/p>\n

Between medication costs, transportation, and daily living expenses, Roberta\u2019s limited income has been stretched to the breaking point.
