Debilitada por la quimioterapia, Christiana desarroll\u00f3 una neumon\u00eda que se volvi\u00f3 s\u00e9ptica. Christiana recuerda: &quot;La neumon\u00eda me dej\u00f3 al borde de la muerte y me recuper\u00e9 lentamente&quot;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Quebrado, abrumado y sin hogar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Despu\u00e9s de que rescataran a Christiana del abismo, todav\u00eda estaba demasiado d\u00e9bil para volver a casa. En cambio, se recuper\u00f3 lentamente en un asilo de ancianos. No es de extra\u00f1ar que Christiana no pudiera trabajar y las facturas se acumularan. Cuando le dieron el alta del asilo, lo \u00fanico que le esperaba era una cirug\u00eda de mama y seis semanas de radiaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMe sent\u00ed muy perdida\u201d, recuerda Christiana. \u201cHab\u00eda estado alejada de mi vida tal como la conoc\u00eda durante m\u00e1s de cuatro meses. Estaba arruinada, abrumada y sin hogar\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christiana se recupera<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Christiana estaba en una mala situaci\u00f3n, viviendo con una amiga que s\u00f3lo pod\u00eda ofrecerle alojamiento durante un mes. No ten\u00eda trabajo, ni dinero y pocas esperanzas. Entonces, su suerte finalmente empez\u00f3 a cambiar. Una subvenci\u00f3n de Shades of Pink, California, le permiti\u00f3 a Christiana mudarse a su propia casa y pagar el alquiler durante dos meses. Ese tiempo le dio el respiro que necesitaba para empezar a buscar trabajo y pudo encontrar un trabajo a tiempo parcial. Christiana nos cuenta que cuando se acab\u00f3 el dinero de la subvenci\u00f3n, hab\u00eda ganado lo suficiente para cubrir el alquiler con sus propios cheques de pago. \u201cEstoy profundamente agradecida por ayudarme a mantenerme a flote el tiempo suficiente para volver a ponerme de pie\u201d, nos escribi\u00f3 en una carta de seguimiento. \u201cSin su ayuda cuando me la brindaron, me estremezco al pensar qu\u00e9 habr\u00eda sido de m\u00ed\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>La historia de Christiana realmente nos conmovi\u00f3 y su experiencia demuestra que una mano amiga brindada en el momento adecuado puede marcar una diferencia monumental en la vida de otra persona.
