Las sorpresas no hab\u00edan terminado. Una biopsia y una tomograf\u00eda por emisi\u00f3n de positrones finalmente descubrieron que Lety ten\u00eda c\u00e1ncer en etapa cuatro y que hab\u00eda hecho met\u00e1stasis en el h\u00edgado. Sus m\u00e9dicos la sometieron a un tratamiento inicial de quimioterapia de seis meses.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ya no puedo trabajar<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Antes de que le diagnosticaran c\u00e1ncer, Lety trabajaba como cuidadora independiente. El trabajo era largo, dif\u00edcil y f\u00edsicamente exigente. Como resultado de la quimioterapia, Lety ya no puede trabajar. Como contratista independiente, Lety no tiene derecho a recibir beneficios por discapacidad. Cuando dej\u00f3 de trabajar, dej\u00f3 de recibir dinero.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Un aumento del costo de la vivienda<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La superstici\u00f3n dice que la mala suerte viene de tres en tres, y la experiencia de Lety parece demostrar que el mito es cierto. Adem\u00e1s de tener c\u00e1ncer de mama y no poder trabajar, los costos de vivienda de Lety tambi\u00e9n aumentaron justo cuando recibi\u00f3 su diagn\u00f3stico. Sin dinero y contando solo con ayuda limitada de su hija adulta y sus padres, Lety nos pidi\u00f3 ayuda para cubrir el aumento de los costos de vivienda.<\/p>\n<p>En su solicitud de subvenci\u00f3n, nos cont\u00f3 lo dif\u00edcil que ha sido someterse a quimioterapia cada tres semanas. El tratamiento la deja d\u00e9bil, cansada, mareada y con n\u00e1useas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lety obtiene una beca<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nos gustar\u00eda poder mejorar los tratamientos de quimioterapia de Lety, pero al menos podemos ayudar a aliviar algunas de sus presiones econ\u00f3micas. Gracias a la generosidad de nuestros donantes, nuestra subvenci\u00f3n a Lety la ayud\u00f3 a pagar sus gastos mensuales de vivienda para que pueda centrarse en superar su tratamiento.
