Trying to Stay Afloat

Silvia, 40, from Escondido, is a divorced mother of two. She was recently diagnosed with Stage IIIDC breast cancer and is undergoing active treatment. She works at a seasonal job with limited hours and no paid leave, making it hard to keep up financially while managing her care.

The Costs Keep Climbing

“Between medical bills, co-payments, and prescription medication expenses, costs add up quickly,” Silvia explained. “In addition, the physical toll of cancer has taken over my body. I’ve had to take a leave from work, which has created a loss of income. It’s made it very difficult to keep up with everyday bills, food, and life to provide for my children.”

A Weight Lifted

Thanks to SOPFCA’s supporters, Silvia received gift cards to help cover gas and groceries during treatment. “This financial assistance will lift a major burden from my shoulders,” she said.
