Diagn\u00f3stico: <\/strong>C\u00e1ncer de mama en estadio II B <\/p>\n

Tratamiento: <\/strong>Quimioterapia, mastectom\u00eda, terapia hormonal e infusiones de Herceptin <\/p>\n

Subvenci\u00f3n utilizada para: <\/strong>Facturas de servicios p\u00fablicos, gastos de viaje, seguros.<\/p>\n

Agotado en el trabajo y luego una casa se inunda<\/strong><\/p>\n

Durante seis a\u00f1os, Donna se enorgulleci\u00f3 de impartir clases de ciudadan\u00eda e ingl\u00e9s como segundo idioma. Luego, empez\u00f3 a sentirse cada vez m\u00e1s cansada. Cuando perdi\u00f3 su trabajo, consider\u00f3 que era una oportunidad para tomarse unos meses de descanso y relajaci\u00f3n antes de reincorporarse al mercado laboral. La naturaleza ten\u00eda otros planes.<\/p>\n

Poco despu\u00e9s, la casa de Donna se inund\u00f3. Pas\u00f3 casi un a\u00f1o viviendo en un hotel, lidiando con su compa\u00f1\u00eda de seguros y los contratistas mientras intentaba reconstruirla. Si bien su casa hab\u00eda sufrido graves da\u00f1os, su cuerpo tambi\u00e9n la estaba fallando. Se sent\u00eda m\u00e1s agotada que nunca. Cuando fue al m\u00e9dico, el diagn\u00f3stico le impact\u00f3: c\u00e1ncer de mama en estadio II.<\/p>\n

No es su primera emergencia m\u00e9dica<\/strong><\/p>\n

Donna cuenta con casi toda una vida de experiencia superando importantes problemas de salud. A los 22 a\u00f1os, contrajo encefalitis, que la dej\u00f3 paralizada. Con concentraci\u00f3n y determinaci\u00f3n, logr\u00f3 recuperar aproximadamente 80% de su movilidad. Ahora, a los 71 a\u00f1os, se enfrentaba a su mayor desaf\u00edo: el c\u00e1ncer de mama.<\/p>\n

Meses de pruebas y consultas finalmente llevaron a una mastectom\u00eda, quimioterapia e infusiones de Herceptin. Los m\u00fasculos de Donna se debilitaron y, a medida que su cuerpo comenzaba a deteriorarse bajo todos los protocolos de tratamiento, le costaba incluso caminar.<\/p>\n

Entre todos estos serios desaf\u00edos, Donna tambi\u00e9n atravesaba graves dificultades financieras.<\/p>\n

Deprimido, asustado y abrumado<\/strong><\/p>\n

En su solicitud de subvenci\u00f3n, Donna nos cont\u00f3 que se sent\u00eda \u00abd\u00e9bil y deprimida, asustada y abrumada\u00bb. Su situaci\u00f3n financiera era desesperada. Sus ahorros se hab\u00edan agotado y el Seguro Social no le alcanzaba para cubrir sus gastos. Cargaba cada vez m\u00e1s en sus tarjetas de cr\u00e9dito y se atrasaba en los pagos.<\/p>\n

Una nueva perspectiva<\/strong><\/p>\n

La historia de Donna es desgarradora y demasiado com\u00fan. Trabaj\u00f3 duro toda su vida, pero el c\u00e1ncer le arrebat\u00f3 la confianza y la estabilidad financiera. Con la ayuda de nuestros donantes, agradecemos la oportunidad de brindarle a Donna la ayuda que sin duda merece.<\/p>\n
