Recently widowed, she faces not only the emotional strain of cancer but also the financial hardship that comes with a sudden diagnosis. Following her lumpectomy in March 2025, doctors found micro metastases in her lymph nodes, requiring her to begin chemotherapy and radiation in the months ahead.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"791\" data-end=\"815\"><strong data-start=\"791\" data-end=\"815\">The Cost of Survival<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"817\" data-end=\"1096\">Even with insurance, Patricia is shouldering steep out-of-pocket costs. Radiation alone is estimated to cost her $1,200, and she still has over $2,400 remaining on her annual out-of-pocket maximum \u2014 all while continuing to cover her basic living expenses, including her mortgage.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1098\" data-end=\"1138\"><strong data-start=\"1098\" data-end=\"1138\">A Grateful Heart, A Fighter\u2019s Spirit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1140\" data-end=\"1347\">Despite the challenges, Patricia reached out to SOPFCA not only for support but also to say thank you:<br data-start=\"1242\" data-end=\"1245\" \/><strong data-start=\"1245\" data-end=\"1345\">\u201cThank you for making life a little easier during my fight to win my battle with breast cancer.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1349\" data-end=\"1611\">Thanks to our generous donors, Patricia received Walmart gift cards to help her afford groceries and ease some of the burden during her treatment.
