Pas\u00f3 a\u00f1os cuid\u00e1ndolo con cari\u00f1o hasta marzo de 2014, cuando tambi\u00e9n sufri\u00f3 una crisis de salud. Ese mes, le diagnosticaron c\u00e1ncer de mama en etapa III. Se someti\u00f3 a una mastectom\u00eda, en la que le extirparon 13 ganglios linf\u00e1ticos, y a radioterapia. Como resultado del tratamiento, desarroll\u00f3 una enfermedad poco com\u00fan llamada neuropat\u00eda, que le ha dificultado caminar y mantener el equilibrio a esta mujer de 62 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n<p>Los dif\u00edciles s\u00edntomas de la neuropat\u00eda combinados con la agotadora radioterapia hicieron imposible que Cely trabajara o continuara cuidando a su esposo. La hija de 26 a\u00f1os de la pareja se mud\u00f3 de Los \u00c1ngeles para ayudar a cuidar a sus padres. Ella transporta a Cely a sus citas m\u00e9dicas e incluso ayuda a pagar el seguro m\u00e9dico de su madre. <\/p>\n<p>Cely y su marido dependen de la discapacidad, de la Seguridad Social y de la generosidad de su hija para poder pagar sus facturas cada vez m\u00e1s elevadas.
