Young, Brave, and Battling for Her Future
At just 26, Jazzlyn is facing an aggressive cancer diagnosis that has upended her life and dreams. A recent graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology and Justice Studies, she had only just begun building her future when she was diagnosed with Stage IIIB HER2+ inflammatory breast cancer. Due to insurance delays and a misread ultrasound, her diagnosis didn’t come until February 2025 — months after her symptoms began.
Now undergoing intense chemotherapy with surgery and radiation still ahead, Jazzlyn is also on hormone therapy. She’s on disability and CalFresh and has moved back home to reduce the financial burden on her family.
A Mother, A Fighter, A Survivor in Progress
Jazzlyn is not only a survivor — she’s also a mother to two young children. Facing cancer while caring for her kids and managing the emotional toll of treatment is a daily act of bravery. Her non-biological mom, who adopted her after 12 difficult years of family instability, is now her primary caregiver and support system.
Strength and Gratitude
Despite the hardships, Jazzlyn is determined: “I am strong, and I will beat this beast!” Her courage is undeniable. With help from our donors, SOPFCA was able to provide Jazzlyn with assistance for everyday needs like groceries and essentials, allowing her to focus on healing and caring for her children.
We are proud to stand beside Jazzlyn and her family during this incredibly challenging time.
