When Cancer Comes Back
Maria, 68, has already endured a long breast cancer journey — including a bilateral mastectomy in 2015. Now, nearly a decade later, her cancer has returned. With limited income and ongoing treatment involving Letrozole and Dexamethasone, the emotional and financial toll has been heavy.
Surviving on Strength and Faith
Living in El Centro with just $1,100 in monthly income, Maria faces not only the fear of a recurrence but also the daily challenge of affording basic necessities like groceries. Her treatment regimen is active, and her ability to work or increase her income is limited. “I trust that things will change,” she wrote, “but in the meantime, I’m just trying to get through.”
Hope at the Right Time
Thanks to SOPFCA’s generous supporters, Maria received grocery gift cards to help ease the burden. “This assistance will give me peace of mind,” she shared. “Knowing I will have something to help get me through means so much.”
