A Life Turned Upside Down

Virginia, 53, from Chula Vista, has spent her life carefully managing her household and living within her means. But when she was diagnosed with breast cancer, everything changed. Forced to stop working, her only income now comes from disability, and it’s a fraction of what she used to earn.

The Costs Don’t Stop

“We’ve cut every extra expense from the budget,” she shared, “but the added costs of treatment like gas, parking at UCSD, OTC medications, and the increased cost of groceries—especially cancer-friendly foods—have put us in a financial hole full of struggle.”

One Less Burden

Thanks to SOPFCA’s supporters, Virginia received gift cards to help with groceries and essentials. “Receiving this assistance will help me greatly by taking one worry off my plate while I focus on my treatments,” she said. “Any help will be so important.”
