Holding It Together

Silvana, 39, from El Cajon, is a single mother of three who is not currently working and awaiting disability approval. Since her diagnosis, she has faced the daunting challenge of balancing treatment with caring for her family on an extremely limited income.

The Weight of Worry

“The most concerning part of the whole process is the financial,” Silvana explained. “I’m a single mom and rely on my work for income. My kids can see my worries, and I am the responsible one, so I don’t like them to worry too. I have copays for chemo, and it is accumulating a lot for me.”

One Less Thing to Fear

Thanks to SOPFCA’s supporters, Silvana received grocery gift cards to help ease the pressure. “Even small things—like using coins for laundry or my kids noticing how much food we use—add stress. This help means so much,” she shared.
